Lieberman Loses Primary: Bush Still Unimpeached

Here's what I think about Sen. Joe Lieberman losing the Connecticut Democratic primary yesterday.. Boo fuckin' hoo! It's about time someone in a position of authority in the United States has had their feet held to the fire over what our nation has done in Iraq, over what our nation has done to itself. If those feet happen to belong to an honorable gentleman with a great heart who has done nothing but good during his life in politics, well, boo fucking hoo to you, Joe Lieberman. You loser.

You deserve your miserable fate. You ran for president in 2004 as a hawk in a country knee-deep in a foreign war -- as a Democrat during a Republican war! -- and the only reason you got away with it is because everyone admired your integrity and the fact that you remind them of Mister Rogers telling us to be brave. Joe Lieberman is a fine man, I have no doubt. But he is part of the problem, not the solution. What the U.S. Senate needs is a Jesse Ventura surprise meteor crashing into Congress. Like it our not, as in 1968 with Eugene McCarthy, Ned Lamont is the peace candidate in the Democratic Party's battle for the American soul.

We are going to hear much more about Lamont than Lieberman in the coming days. What is Joe going to show us now that he hasn't in two national political compaigns during the last 6 years? Face it, Lieberman was a heartbeat away and a few votes short of being Al Gore's caddy for eight years. If 9/11 happened on Al Gore's watch; he'd still president today. Anyone think Gore would have failed the "presidential" test? Look no further than the lying nitwit we call Mister President today.

People are pissed off at Joe Lieberman because he represents the best intentioned efforts by those at the highest levels of the Democratic Party to make sense of, and make honorable peace with, a fabricated war born of a lie long revealed. The longer we, the American people, learn the truth about the evidence supporting the invasion of Iraq, the more we seek comfort in the lie. A recent, startling poll result of Americans showed that more people etoday (50 percent) believe that Saddam Hussein's Iraq had WMD's (weapons of mass destruction) than they did six months ago (36 percent).

These are the same people who may re-elect Joe Lieberman if he runs as an independent in November. Like Hubert Humphrey, Joe Lieberman is a "Happy Warrior" joyfully slinging the slop to a Democratic Party that can't seem to find a single unifying thing it stands for except jobs. And they're still hiring in Iraq.

I have no idea what Ned Lamont, the elected Democratic candidate for the United States Senate from the State of Connecticut, is running for. But I know what he's running against. He's running against the notion that the American people really can't handle the truth.

Clark,

Hello from a former PWRFC rugger. We met once many moons ago.

What did Bush lie about? The bi-partisan Robb Commission said he didn't lie when describing what he thought he knew about Iraq's WMD as he advocated war on Iraq. He based his comments on intelligence that turned out to be bad, but that doesn't make him a liar unless he knew his facts were wrong.

Why do you call Lamont a peace candidate? What makes you think peace is more likely under him? I suspect that is like calling Chamberlain a peace candidate. I think the lesson of 30s is apt today. We have to stop these dictators before they get too much power. The pacifist French didn't stand up to Hitler in '36 when he militarized the Rhineland. Their policy didn't lead to peace it led to the worst war ever seen. I don't think these Islamic crazies pose nearly as serious a threat as Hitler, but I think the same principal applies. Strike early.

Also, how about those French? What stones they have! They say they want to play a major role in bringing peace to Lebanon then offer only 200 troops!!! Can you imagine that a lot of people in this country suggested we take their lead in 2003 and wait out Hussein? Just as in the 30s, they are so craven they will do anything to avoid fighting even if it means much worse fighting just a few years from now. (Of course, they didn't do much fighting in WW II.)

Mannix is right. French fries have put more men in Graduate Hospital than Hitler.

Saddam could'nt hit the side of a barn with his the missles that only Bush II thinks he has. this is why Arabs throw stones or blow themselves up. High technological achievment levels simply do not prevail in the Arab world. Nice rugs, but they just don't fly very well. Ask any genie you happen to see..,

I think the French and the Falafels should be restricted to throwing their national treasures at each other. Your crepes against my shish-kabobs. Meat me at the Oasis;you bring the wine I'll bring the condoms.

Uncle Jo' ll win big in November. He has big support among the BMW set, and the berlin turnpike will not vote for an independent.

I would like to see the Democrats get control of the House and Senate, to assure the Bush Twins' election to succeed their father. With twins, you combine their ages to get eligibility to run for President.
